Durante la tarde del día lunes 07 de octubre de 2019, el Coordinador del Centro de Educación y Cultura Americana Mg Benjamín Silva y la investigadora asociada de CECA Mg Geraldine Sandoval, llegaron hasta el domicilio de María Teresa Chadwick, ex Directora Ejecutiva de Fundación Integra durante el período presidencial de Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle (1994-2000) para realizar una entrevista semi-estructurada respecto de gestión en el cargo señalado.
En esta oportunidad, la Socióloga de profesión pudo relatar su experiencia en la dirección nacional de Integra, siendo la segunda en el cargo y la que mayor tiempo pudo ostentarlo. Desde esta posición dentro de sus principales desafíos estuvo realizar la transición organizacional y administrativa desde una institución de línea benéfica a una institución educativa; en esta posición fue la encargada de generar una administración autónoma separándola de la administración que hasta ese momento ostentaban las esposas de ministros, intendentes, alcaldes, etc. Siendo una Fundación constituida casi en su totalidad por mujeres, su experiencia previa en el SERNAM fue de vital importancia, ya que pudo visualizar la importancia del buen desarrollo de los hijos e hijas de madres trabajadoras en situación de vulnerabilidad.
Respecto de las preguntas realizadas la entrevistada se mostró muy contenta señalando: «he recibido con gran gusto a Benjamín y a Geraldine para hablar de un proyecto en el cual participé con mucho cariño, con mucha pasión, pero que hace muchos años atrás, que fue la Dirección de la Fundación Integra; yo estuve en Integra desde el año 94 hasta el año 2000, feliz de recordar y que vuelva a mi memoria ese proyecto, es una maravilla el poder trabajar con los niños en vulnerabilidad en el proyecto educativo de su infancia»
Esta entrevista será publicada en formato libro, junto con las realizadas a las demás directoras y directores ejecutivos, como parte del proyecto que se enmarca en el cumplimiento de los 30 años de Fundación Integra; para CECA es muy relevante la realización de este proyecto, puesto que forma parte de una importante línea de investigación desarrollada al interior del Centro que es la educación inicial.
